AKIGALAWOOD
Akigalawood has a peppery, woody character, with facets recalling patchouli and agarwood. It can add a dry spicy edge to a composition, bringing woods into focus without relying on the creamy impression associated with sandalwood.
Developed by Givaudan, this fragrance material is made through biotechnology using fractions of patchouli oil. It is not an oil distilled from a tree called Akigalawood, and an agarwood-like facet does not make it natural oud. Its impact depends on the amount used and the surrounding materials. In a note list, it points towards spicy woods rather than a promise of any particular strength or wear time.
