ALMOND
Almond in perfume often suggests marzipan: nutty sweetness with a distinctive bitter edge. It can also recall the almond-like side of cherry stones. This recognisable aroma differs from the mild smell of ordinary sweet almonds or a rich almond-milk impression.
Benzaldehyde is one material used to create almond effects; suppliers describe almond and stone-fruit facets. The finished accord may be softened with creamy or powdery notes, or set against drier woods. A listed almond note does not identify the source of the fragrance materials. It is not evidence that a product contains almond oil, nor does it establish that a perfume is free from allergens.
