AMARETTO

Amaretto suggests almond sweetness with the rounded, liqueur-like character of the Italian drink. Compared with a plain almond note, its appeal is the impression of a sweeter, more indulgent mixture. It can bring a boozy suggestion to gourmand perfumes without necessarily making the whole scent heavy.

In fragrance, amaretto is an olfactory reference, not a declaration that the drink is an ingredient. Guerlain, for example, explicitly uses amaretto as an inspiration for an almond scent. Different interpretations may emphasise bitter almond, sweetness or warmth. The note says nothing about whether the finished perfume contains alcohol.
