AMBRETTE SEED
Ambrette seed has a musky character with fruity, floral and sometimes powdery nuances. Certain distilled materials also show a liqueur-like facet. This combination can give a perfume a rounded texture without turning it into a sugary gourmand.
The seeds are those of Abelmoschus moschatus. Their fragrant extracts are botanical materials, unlike an animal musk, but the note name does not specify which extract a perfume uses. Distillation is one documented production method. Ambrette seed and the manufactured musk ambrettolide are related names, not interchangeable labels for the same complete material.
