AMBRETTOLIDE

Ambrettolide is a musky fragrance material that can carry floral and fruity nuances. It can lend roundness to flowers and woods while contributing its own scent, rather than acting only as an invisible support. Different commercial materials sold under this name need not have identical profiles.

It belongs to the macrocyclic musk family, whose molecules contain a large ring. Ambrettolide is associated with ambrette seed chemistry, but manufactured perfumery material is not the same as the whole seed extract. A note listing does not establish the manufacturer, feedstock or production route. Its effect on a finished fragrance depends on the full composition.
