AMBRINOL (AMBERGRIS)
Ambrinol brings forward the earthy, animalic side of ambergris, with leathery and musky facets. Some commercial profiles also suggest tobacco or seaweed. It is more characterful than a description of simple, smooth amber sweetness would imply.
Perfumery ambrinol is made by chemical synthesis. It is associated with the chemistry of ambergris, but that does not make the manufactured material a whale extract. In small amounts it can add a more bodily or leathery texture to an ambergris effect. Its balance and prominence depend on the blend, and individual supplier descriptions should not be taken as a recipe for every perfume.
