AMYRIS (CARIBBEAN)

Amyris has a woody character with gentle spicy and balsamic facets. It can recall aspects of sandalwood, but it is a different botanical material. In a composition it can offer a rounded woody texture rather than the sharp impression associated with some drier woods.

The oil is obtained by steam-distilling wood from Amyris balsamifera, a member of the citrus family, Rutaceae. Haiti is a documented source. Names such as West Indian sandalwood are common comparisons, not botanical identities. The scent varies with the material and formula, and a listed amyris note does not by itself certify an origin or environmental claim.

Caribbean is a regional origin label, not a separate amyris species or a promise of a distinct scent. It does not identify an island, supplier or batch. The wood oil and the surrounding fragrance materials determine the particular expression.
