ANIMALIC NOTES
Animalic notes describe smells that suggest warm skin, fur, leather or bodily warmth. Some are softly musky; others have a sharper, more challenging edge. The term covers a family of effects rather than one ingredient, so it does not tell you exactly how a fragrance will smell.
In a floral perfume, an animalic accent can make the flowers feel less pristine. Beside woods or leather, it may deepen an already dry, textured impression. These are possible effects, not a recipe shared by every perfume. Animalic is also not proof of animal sourcing: fragrance materials can recreate such impressions. Look at the surrounding notes to distinguish a gentle skinlike interpretation from a deliberately forceful one.
