PERU BALSAM
Peru balsam has a sweet, resinous scent with vanilla-like softness and a cinnamon-like spicy facet. Powdery and amber-like nuances can make it feel rounded rather than sharply woody. This is a useful note to explore if you enjoy warm balsamic perfumes with sweetness beyond a simple vanilla impression.
The natural material is associated with Myroxylon balsamum var. pereirae. Despite the name, Peru should not be assumed to be its present-day production origin: El Salvador is a documented source. Perfumery uses processed forms whose individual profiles vary, so a general note label does not identify one extraction grade. In a composition, its resinous warmth may connect sweet, spicy and woody elements without dictating the fragrance's strength or lasting time.
