BENZOIN (LAOS)

Benzoin labelled Laos belongs to the sweet, resinous side of perfumery. Materials associated with Styrax tonkinensis can offer vanilla-like warmth, powdery softness and a gentle cinnamon-like accent. The impression is rounded and balsamic rather than simply woody.

Laos is a documented source of the resin traded as Siam benzoin. That trade name does not mean every material comes from Thailand. The geographical label is useful context, but it does not guarantee a unique scent profile or the sourcing of every listed perfume. In a fragrance, look for the balance between the resin's sweetness and surrounding spice or woods; those relationships shape the overall effect more clearly than the country name alone.
