BERGAMOT (ITALY)
Italian bergamot points to an origin designation for a citrus note with zesty, floral and herbal facets. The peel-like freshness may be vivid, but there is also a softer side that can connect with flowers and aromatic herbs. It is not simply the smell of sour juice.
Italy, particularly Calabria, is a documented source of bergamot oil made from the fruit peel. Different processing grades exist, and the country label does not specify which one a fragrance uses or prove its sourcing. Rather than expecting a scent that is categorically different from all other bergamot, look at the composition's balance: fresh citrus, floral softness and drier surrounding notes can each change the impression.
