BLACK AMBER

Black amber describes a darker interpretation of an ambery perfume accord. Warm resinous sweetness may be framed by powdery, woody or incense-like facets, depending on the composition. The word black sets an olfactory mood; it is not a botanical identity or a standard material specification.

Perfume houses build these effects in different ways, so there is no universal black-amber recipe. A particular blend may include benzoin, labdanum or other materials, but none can be assumed from the name alone. Nor does the term mean that black fossil amber was extracted into the perfume. If you enjoy warm ambery fragrances, compare whether the darker effect comes mainly through dry woods, smoke-like nuances or deeper sweetness.
