CANANGA
Cananga has a sweet floral scent with a warm balsamic undertone. Green-wood and leathery nuances give the flower a more substantial character than a simple fresh-petal impression. It is related to ylang-ylang, yet cananga oil can feel heavier, with a woody edge beneath its floral sweetness.
The natural oil is steam-distilled from the flowers of Cananga odorata. Its name therefore refers to a floral material even when woody or leathery facets are noticeable. In a perfume, this combination can bring warmth and texture to the floral theme. Look at the surrounding notes to see whether a composition draws out the sweet blossom or its darker, greener shading.
