CEDARWOOD (ALASKA)

Alaska cedarwood combines a pronounced woody character with an unexpected grapefruit-like brightness. The documented fragrance oil has aromatic, spicy and leathery facets, offering more than a simple image of dry timber. Its citrus impression belongs to the wood oil itself: nootkatene and nootkatone are among the constituents associated with this grapefruit character.

The material is linked to the Nootka cypress, listed by its producer as Cupressus nootkatensis. Alaska is part of its established name, not proof of an Alaskan harvest: dsm-firmenich identifies British Columbia, Canada, as the source of its oil. In a fragrance, this theme can bring a bright edge to a woody composition. The note label does not reveal the exact oil used or guarantee the same balance of facets in every perfume.
