CACHALOX® (AMBERGRIS NOTE)

Cachalox® is a named perfumery material associated with an ambergris-like character. A perfume-house description places it beside a musk and raspberry notes, with benzoin and patchouli creating a softer surrounding texture. This is one way an ambergris-related impression can work in a blend, rather than a rule that the material itself smells of raspberry, musk or sweet resin.

Technical literature lists Cachalox separately from Cetalox and Ambrox, so the names should not be treated as interchangeable labels for one identical material. Its connection to ambergris describes an olfactory relationship, not a claim that a perfume contains natural whale-derived ambergris. When exploring fragrances with this note, consider the whole composition and the balance between its ambery theme and the other notes; the name alone does not promise strength, sweetness or duration.
