Chestnut is a gourmand note that can evoke the warm aroma of roasting nuts, with a rounded sweetness and a toasted edge. It offers a different starting point from a plain vanilla theme: the pleasure comes from the suggestion of cooked chestnut, which can sit between dessert and a woodland atmosphere. Some interpretations emphasise sweetened chestnuts, while others place the idea near smoke and spice.

Perfume houses explicitly use chestnut accords to create these impressions. One documented composition surrounds the accord with guaiac wood, clove and vanilla; another combines sweetened roasted chestnuts with woods. These settings help explain the note’s range, without making smoke, vanilla or any one wood compulsory. The label describes an olfactory idea rather than a specified chestnut extract. Sweetness and the strength of the roasted effect vary with the composition.
