CITRUS (ITALY)

Italian citrus evokes the bright peel character of fruits such as lemon, bergamot, orange and mandarin. The scent can lean towards tart lemon freshness or a softer orange sweetness, depending on the fruit and composition. The label identifies a regional citrus theme, not a separate botanical species or one fixed blend.

Italy supplies several distinct citrus materials to perfumery. Calabria is associated with bergamot, while suppliers also process mandarins and oranges from Sicily and Calabria and lemons grown in southern Italy. Cold-pressed peel oils are one form these materials take. A regional name alone does not specify the oil, processing or exact harvest location used in a perfume. In a composition, citrus brightness can sit alongside aromatic herbs, flowers or woods without determining the entire scent.
