COASTAL TEA TREE (AUSTRALIA)

Coastal tea tree offers more than the sharp tea-tree association its name may suggest. An oil from Leptospermum laevigatum can have a sweet, earthy character with light woody and citrus nuances. These are leaf-oil facets; they should not be confused with the whole impression of a floral, sea-air-inspired perfume.

Australian coastal tea tree oil is commercially distilled from leaves and small branches, including material from Flinders Island, Tasmania. The plant is distinct from the Melaleuca tea tree commonly associated with tea-tree oil. Perfumery also draws inspiration from its white coastal blooms: Goldfield & Banks places the note in an aquatic, creamy floral composition. That creative interpretation does not make the flower theme identical to the distilled leaf oil, nor establish which extract or accord is used in every perfume bearing the note.
