COFFEE (ESPRESSO)
Espresso in perfume suggests the concentrated aroma of a small cup of coffee. An espresso-style note can emphasise dark roasting, a bitter edge and smoky or dry woody facets. Those details can create a firm coffee contrast within a sweet composition, while the surrounding materials decide whether the result feels creamy, sugary or more austere. Burnt character is one possible perfumery interpretation, not a requirement of every espresso.
The drink is prepared by passing hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee. Espresso names this preparation, not a botanical species or a single roast level. Perfumery may use coffee extracts or construct a coffee impression; the beverage’s brewing method does not define the perfume’s manufacturing process. For example, an espresso-style raw material is sold as a supercritical CO₂ extract. The note alone cannot establish which material is present.
