CONIFEROUS WOODS

Coniferous woods is a broad fragrance theme recalling trees such as pine and fir. It can combine the brisk impression of aromatic needles with dry wood and resinous warmth. The result may feel open and fresh or denser and softly balsamic; “balsamic” here means a rounded, resin-like character. It describes a woodland impression rather than one tree species with one fixed smell.

The materials behind that impression can differ markedly. Eden Botanicals’ Scotch pine oil is distilled from Pinus sylvestris needles and has a fresh, dry, pine-like profile. Robertet’s fir balsam clarextract combines wood and resin with a sweeter, toffee-like facet. These examples show the range, not a required blend. The label does not prove that several natural oils are present, or that every woody facet was extracted from wood rather than needles or other plant material.
