DAVANA
Davana has a sweet, fruit-rich character that can suggest dried apricot and fruit liqueur, with a warm hay-like undertone. That combination makes it more textured than a straightforward sugary fruit note: the dried-fruit impression feels rounded, while the hay brings a drier counterpoint. IFF LMR documents these facets in its davana oil.
The source is Artemisia pallens, an aromatic herb rather than an apricot or grape. IFF describes hydrodistillation of the herb; Aromatics International documents a steam-distilled flower oil with a sweet, warm, fruity and lightly woody profile. These are supplier-specific materials, not one compulsory process for every interpretation. In a perfume, davana can connect a fruity theme with warmer, drier surroundings. Its liqueur-like smell does not imply a drink ingredient, and the overall formula determines how the note develops.
