EVERLASTING FLOWERS (IMMORTELLE)

Everlasting flowers here refers to immortelle, Helichrysum italicum, whose perfumery character combines floral warmth with herbs, hay and dried-fruit sweetness. It is not simply a light bouquet note: the drier side can suggest tobacco, while richer facets may recall fruit steeped in liqueur. These contrasts can give a warm fragrance texture without making it uniformly sugary.

The form of the material matters. IFF describes its immortelle essential oil through sweet herbal flowers, dried red fruit and hay; its absolute has a more tobacco-like, ambery dimension alongside dried fruit and flowers. The oil is obtained by distillation, while the absolute involves solvent extraction and alcohol purification. These are two interpretations of the same plant, not interchangeable descriptions of every extract or every perfume listing the note.
