EVERNYL (MOSS)

Evernyl gives a moss-like impression with soft wood and earth beneath it. Its character can suggest a shaded woodland floor, with a slightly sharper, phenolic edge rather than leafy brightness alone. In perfume, it can bring a drier counterweight to flowers or sweetness and help build a mossy background.

The name refers to an individual aroma material, also known as methyl atrarate, rather than complete oakmoss extract. Ventós lists Evernyl and Veramoss as names for the same molecule; IFF describes its Veramoss material through oakmoss, soft wood and earthy facets. This does not make every commercial grade identical, nor reproduce all the nuances of a natural extract. The surrounding ingredients determine whether the result feels distinctly mossy, woody or simply less sweet.
