FENNEL SEEDS
Fennel seeds suggest warm, sweet anise with an aromatic spice character. The note turns attention to the dried spice rather than the plant’s feathery leaves, although both share an anise-like scent. Green and earthy nuances can sit beneath that sweetness, giving the impression more herbal detail than a simple sugary accord.
The familiar “seeds” are the aromatic fruits of Foeniculum vulgare. They are a source of essential oil: Mane Kancor steam-distils the dried fruits and describes the result as sweet, green, earthy and spicy. This explains one natural material associated with the note. A perfume’s fennel-seed label does not, by itself, disclose its formula or confirm that this oil was used.
