FIG LEAVES

Fig leaves draw the fig theme towards fresh greenery rather than ripe fruit. The note can suggest the leafy canopy of a fig tree, giving a clear green counterpoint to softer milky and woody facets around it. In Diptyque’s fig-tree interpretation, the freshness of the leaves is specifically distinguished from the milky fruit and denser wood.

Perfumers can build this impression with aroma materials. Givaudan identifies Stemone as one molecule that lends a fresh, leafy nuance to fig-leaf notes, among other uses. This is an example of a tool for creating the effect, not a mandatory ingredient or a complete fig-leaf formula. The final balance may favour greenery or soften it with fruit and wood; a note listing does not confirm a natural leaf extract.
