FLOUVE OIL

Flouve oil is a distilled material from sweet vernal grass, Anthoxanthum odoratum. Its scent can suggest cut hay, vanilla-like warmth and sweet tobacco, bringing a dried-grass character with more sweetness than a simple green-leaf impression. These comparisons describe the aroma; they do not mean that vanilla or tobacco has been added to the oil.

Steam-distilled flouve oil and solvent-extracted flouve absolute are distinct materials from the same plant. A French oil offered by Rising Sun Botanicals is distilled from flowering tips, while technical literature also discusses oils from fresh and dried grass. The term should therefore not be restricted to one drying method. In perfume, this sweet, herbal character may suit a hay or tobacco theme. Its prominence depends on the composition, and a listed note alone does not establish the exact material used.
