FRESH NOTES

Fresh notes is a broad description of a perfume’s bright, crisp or cool character. Freshness can come across as citrus zest, crushed green leaves, aromatic herbs or a watery impression. These effects are related by the sensation they create, but they do not all smell alike: leafy freshness is different from a lemon-like sparkle or a marine suggestion.

The label does not identify a single ingredient or a fixed recipe. Perfumers can use natural extracts and aroma molecules to shape these impressions, combining freshness with floral, woody or sweeter elements. It also does not mean that every material is equally volatile or that the fresh effect must disappear after the opening. When comparing fragrances, consider which kind of freshness you enjoy and how it sits within the full composition.
