GENMAICHA TEA

Genmaicha is Japanese green tea blended with roasted rice. As a perfume inspiration, it brings together a tea impression and the warm smell of toasted grain; the rice can suggest popcorn, as Ippodo describes in its own tea blend. The contrast between leaves and roasting is the useful starting point, rather than an automatic expectation of smoke, milk or sugary dessert.

A genmaicha note is not necessarily a wholly reconstructed accord. Floraïku documents a Genmaicha Tea extract alongside a separate puffed-rice accord in one of its compositions. That example does not establish the materials in every perfume or a universal recipe for the note. Depending on the surrounding composition, the tea or the grain can feel more prominent. Explore genmaicha for this meeting of tea and toasted-rice warmth.
