GUM ARABIC

Gum arabic, also called acacia gum, is a plant exudate with very little smell of its own. It should not be assigned a rich, sweet or woody perfume character simply because it resembles a resin. Supplier documentation describes the material as nearly odourless, making it different from strongly aromatic fragrance resins.

The gum is collected from the stems and branches of certain acacia trees and is known for functional properties such as binding and stabilising. Those uses do not establish a distinctive perfume note or guarantee longer wear on skin. If a fragrance names gum arabic, the surrounding composition and the house’s own explanation are needed to understand the intended impression; the label alone does not define a standard scented accord.
