HABANOLIDE (MUSK)
Habanolide® is a synthetic musk with a warm character and a lightly woody undertone. Its manufacturer, dsm-firmenich, also lists powdery and earthy descriptors. These facets give a more rounded picture than treating it only as a cold, airy note. In perfume, its musky body can form part of the soft texture around other ingredients, with the balance determined by the composition.
It belongs to the macrocyclic musk family, a chemical classification, and is made by synthesis. Habanolide is a named fragrance material rather than a generic label for every white-musk accord. The manufacturer describes it as powerful and persistent, but a material’s performance does not predict the strength or wear time of a finished perfume. Dosage, accompanying materials and the complete formula determine how clearly its musky and woody facets emerge.
