HAZELNUT
Hazelnut in perfume can suggest creamy nutty richness, often with the warm impression of roasting. A sweeter interpretation may recall praline, while a woody setting can give the nutty effect a different emphasis. Roasted hazelnut extracts provide a concrete reference: supplier Fraterworks describes its material with creamy, buttery and toasted facets. These are useful directions to look for, rather than a promise that every hazelnut perfume smells like confectionery.
Natural aromatic extracts exist. FLAVEX produces a CO2 extract from freshly roasted Corylus avellana nuts and identifies perfumery as one application. Hazelnut can also be presented as a composed accord, so the note’s name does not disclose which material was used. Vanilla, coffee or cocoa can shape a dessert-like impression when present alongside it; they are possible partners, not ingredients required by the word hazelnut.
