ICE ACCORD

Ice accord in perfume suggests a crisp, cold kind of freshness. It is an olfactory idea assembled by the perfumer, rather than a named extract from ice. The effect can make a fragrance feel chilled while other notes give it body, sweetness or warmth. “Cold” describes the impression of the scent; the note name alone does not promise a cooling effect on skin.

There is no single formula disclosed by this label. Oriflame, for example, places an ice accord in a fragrance with aromatic and woody notes, showing that an icy theme need not mean an ocean scent. Mint, salt or particular aroma molecules should not be assumed from the word ice. Read the surrounding notes to see whether the composition takes a herbal, woody or another direction.
