OLIBANUM (INDIA)

Indian olibanum, or frankincense, points towards warm resinous scents rather than every kind of Indian incense. Boswellia serrata is a documented botanical source. Its materials can offer more than a smoky impression: Eden Botanicals describes an Indian CO2 extract with a smooth resinous body, earthy-musky depth, a little liquorice-like character and a lighter pine-like accent. That profile belongs to its extract, not a fixed national style.

The starting material is the tree’s resin. A CO2 extract is one preparation used in perfumery; the regional note name does not establish that process in every listed fragrance. Nor does it imply a blend of incense sticks or prove that natural resin was used. The full composition matters when choosing a scent: fresh accents may lighten the resinous impression, while deeper notes can bring its warmer side forward.
