IODIZED NOTES

Iodized notes in perfume describe a salty, mineral impression, often associated with the seaside. The term is an olfactory image rather than the name of one standard ingredient or formula. It can suggest a marine edge without making the whole perfume smell like seawater; the surrounding notes determine how strongly that coastal association comes through.

Perfume houses use the idea in different settings. Teo Cabanel places iodized and salty notes beside white flowers and vanilla, creating a contrast between sweetness and a seaside impression. Anomalia describes a more delicate mineral and iodized opening within a floral composition. Neither approach makes seaweed, a metallic effect or a particular aquatic molecule compulsory. A note listing also does not establish that iodine itself has been added to the fragrance.
