JASMINE
Jasmine brings a full floral impression to perfume, with possible fruity sweetness, green accents and a warmer, more animalic undertone. This last aspect is often called indolic: it gives the flower a deeper character than a simple sweet-petal effect. Some interpretations feel airy and green; others emphasise the dense floral warmth.
Natural jasmine materials include extracts of Jasminum grandiflorum and Jasminum sambac. They are distinct species with different profiles, and the extract and growing source also matter. Sambac materials can suggest orange blossom, while grandiflorum absolutes may show fruit, spice or hay-like nuances. An absolute is made through extraction and further purification of the flower material. A jasmine note in a finished fragrance may also be an interpretation built from other perfumery ingredients, so the name alone does not prove the presence of jasmine absolute.
