JASMINE (EGYPT)

Egyptian jasmine can give perfume rich floral warmth with fruit, green accents and an indolic undertone: the deeper, slightly animalic side of a flower. Individual absolutes reveal different details. IFF’s Egyptian material includes spicy and hay-like nuances; Eden Botanicals describes sweetness with touches of musk, tea and honey. These are variations within a floral profile, not guarantees for every perfume.

Jasminum grandiflorum is cultivated in Egypt, including the Nile Delta, for its fragrant flowers. To make an absolute, the flowers undergo solvent extraction followed by purification with alcohol. The result is a concentrated flower extract, distinct from a distilled essential oil. In a composition, the material can supply floral fullness, with its fruitier or warmer aspects emphasised by the surrounding notes. The label alone does not establish which extract a perfume contains.
