LEMON (ITALY)
Italian lemon evokes the clear, brisk smell released when a lemon is cut or peeled. In perfume, this citrus character can bring definition to a soft floral blend or a fresh contrast to woods and herbs. It refers to the fruit and its aromatic rind, rather than the separate scent of lemon blossom. The finished impression may lean towards sharp peel or a rounder, juicier lemon, depending on the composition.
Italy supplies natural lemon oils made by cold pressing fresh Citrus limon peel. Lemon cultivation spans areas including Sicily, Sardinia and the Amalfi Coast, so the country name does not identify one orchard or variety. Nor does it make every Italian oil smell identical or establish superior quality. On a fragrance page, Italian lemon describes a note with a geographical association; the perfume’s full ingredient provenance requires more than its note list.
