LILIUM

Lilium is the botanical genus of the true lilies, so a lilium note belongs to the same floral territory as lily. It can evoke the flower together with its fresh leaves and the softer impression of its centre. A perfumer may bring these elements forward separately, making the result feel greener or more rounded; the botanical label does not define a second, inherently different perfume material.

Cartier’s account of its lily interpretation illustrates this approach by distinguishing leaf freshness, petals and the softness of the pistil. The effect is a portrait of the flower, not evidence that all these parts were extracted. Lilium includes many species and garden varieties with differing scent intensity. Without a specific species or supplier material, the note should be understood as a lily-inspired floral effect rather than a fixed extract or formula.
