LIME LEAVES

Lime leaves suggest fresh citrus with a leafy, aromatic outline, rather than the juicy impression of the fruit alone. Depending on the material, the brightness can carry a soft floral sweetness or a sharper, lemony edge. This can give a citrus composition the feeling of foliage around the fruit, or add a green detail to a floral accord. It need not smell identical to lime peel oil.

One documented natural material is the steam-distilled leaf oil of Citrus hystrix, often called makrut lime. Suppliers describe versions with fresh citrus and leafy facets, sometimes accompanied by rose-like nuances. This is an example, not a botanical definition of every lime-leaf note. The broader name does not establish which citrus species, extract or reconstruction a perfumer used, and its green freshness does not determine the strength or duration of the finished fragrance.
