MAHONIAL™

Mahonial™ is a synthetic floral fragrance material from Givaudan. It has a green lily-of-the-valley character, also called muguet, with facets reminiscent of magnolia. Its freshness is accompanied by floral fullness: the effect can suggest a bouquet with more body, rather than simply a faint flower hovering behind the other notes. Green here describes a leafy impression within the floral scent.

Perfumers can use this combination to build or enrich a floral accord, bringing several materials together into a flower-like impression. Mahonial™ is a named molecule, not an extract of lily of the valley or magnolia, and its floral comparisons do not make it identical to those complete notes. The balance of the composition determines whether its green aspect or its fuller flower character is more noticeable. Its name alone does not predict how long a perfume will last.
