MANGO

Mango in perfume can suggest ripe, juicy flesh while keeping a fresh green edge. That contrast gives the fruit more definition than sweetness alone: a mango note need not smell like syrup, milkshake or candy. In a floral composition it can add a succulent fruit impression; beside green notes, its fresher side may become more prominent. Creamy surrounding notes can instead steer the fragrance towards a dessert-like interpretation.

Perfumers can build the impression as an accord, combining fragrance materials to evoke the fruit. One documented example is Givaudan’s natural mango blend for Perfumer’s Apprentice, designed around ripe fruit with a slight green facet. “Natural blend” here does not mean a mango fruit essential oil. The note name alone reveals neither a fixed formula nor whether natural, synthetic or mixed materials create it.
