MATCHA TEA

Matcha tea in perfume draws on powdered green tea, suggesting a green, leafy character that can lean grassy or softly rounded. The tea itself is made from shade-grown leaves ground into a fine powder. Its aroma varies by blend: tea specialists describe examples ranging from grass and dried straw to a fuller forest-green impression.

In fragrance, matcha can be interpreted as an accord rather than a literal infusion of the powder. Some compositions emphasise green tea, while others soften the idea with creamy or woody notes. Le Labo, for example, pairs a matcha accord with creamy fig, vetiver, cedar and bitter orange. Those companions describe one interpretation, not a universal matcha formula. The name alone does not imply a sweetened milk drink or any calming effect.
