MOXALONE

Moxalone is a synthetic musk with a distinctly woody, enveloping character. Rather than naming an extract of wood, it identifies a particular fragrant molecule. Its musky body can give a composition a rounded setting in which woody notes feel connected and full.

Perfumer Sonia Constant has described Moxalone as a Givaudan captive, a material reserved for the company’s perfumers, and highlighted its woody character. That description provides a useful guide to the note without making every perfume containing it smell the same. Its prominence depends on the surrounding materials and the amount used. The name alone does not establish a pear note, a specific skin effect or the overall longevity of the fragrance.
