NUTMEG (INDONESIA)

Nutmeg smells warm and aromatic, with a peppery lift, dry woody facets and a gently sweet side. It can recall freshly grated kitchen spice without making a perfume smell like dessert. Its sharper, fresher aspect can enliven a composition, while the woody warmth can connect spice with flowers or deeper notes.

The material comes from the seed kernel of Myristica fragrans. Steam-distilled nutmeg oil is one perfumery form; solvent-extracted absolute is another. Eden Botanicals describes its absolute as rounder and sweeter than its oil, with creamy and tobacco-like nuances. This difference matters more than assuming one fixed nutmeg profile. A note listing alone does not identify the extract, dose or final balance in a fragrance. The Indonesian qualifier identifies the stated origin of the nutmeg, not a separate spice or a guaranteed regional smell.
