OAK
Oak suggests the grain and warmth of wood, sometimes shaded by smoke or rounded sweetness. The material’s preparation matters: roasted oak can bring a smoky depth, while some oakwood extracts suggest barrels with vanilla-like or caramel nuances. These facets can connect a woody perfume with richer, food-like or spirit-like impressions without requiring it to smell of a drink.
Oakwood and oakmoss are different materials. Oakwood comes from the tree’s wood; oakmoss is a lichen that grows on bark. An oak note may be interpreted with wood extracts or an accord, and the general label does not specify a process. The surrounding composition determines how dry, sweet or smoky the oak impression becomes.
