OPERANIDE (WOODY AMBERY)
Operanide is an IFF fragrance molecule with a soft, creamy and powdery amber character. Gourmand nuances give it a suggestion of edible warmth, while its woody side keeps the impression from being only sweet. Here, amber describes the scent family; it does not mean fossilised amber or an extracted tree resin.
IFF highlights its use in ambery florals, spicy compositions, soft woods and gourmand fragrances. The supplier also notes its contrast with citrus and cologne accords: rounded warmth can sit beside a brighter, fresher edge. These possibilities do not determine the style of every perfume containing it. Operanide is a particular material, not a general name for all woody-amber notes, and its presence alone cannot predict a finished perfume’s longevity.
