ORANGE BLOSSOM (TUNISIA)

The stated origin for this blossom note is Tunisia. Orange blossom combines the sweetness of white flowers with green freshness and a warm, sometimes honeyed or lightly fruity depth. Its fuller expressions can have an indolic facet: a ripe, almost animal-like edge within the floral scent. This makes the note more varied than a simple impression of orange juice or clean citrus peel.

The principal perfumery inspiration is the flower of the bitter orange tree, Citrus aurantium. Solvent extraction and alcohol purification produce orange blossom absolute. Distillation of the flowers produces neroli essential oil, generally a greener, lighter expression; the two are related but not interchangeable names for one extract. “Orange flower” and “orange blossom” are synonymous note labels. In a composition, the blossom can connect citrus freshness with warm florals or sweet accords, without fixing the fragrance’s style or revealing its exact ingredients. Origin alone does not fix the balance of green freshness and floral warmth.
