PAPRIKA

Paprika is a warm spice note inspired by dried, ground Capsicum annuum peppers. Its character can be savoury and gently sweet, with a dry vegetal depth rather than simply the sharpness suggested by the word pepper. A Biolandes paprika extract, for example, has a dried-tomato character with hay, tea and bread-like nuances. This offers a more useful picture than assuming every paprika note smells fiery.

Natural perfumery extracts do exist: Biolandes fractionally distils paprika oleoresin to obtain a pale aromatic material. That specific process does not define every paprika accord. In a perfume, this dry warmth can add interest beside woods or contrast with sweeter notes. Paprika names a scent idea, not a guarantee of pungency on skin, red colour or natural-extract content.
