PEANUT BUTTER
Peanut butter in perfume evokes roasted peanuts blended into a smooth spread: nutty warmth with a creamy impression and sometimes a caramel-like sweetness. Its toasted side can give a gourmand fragrance more contrast than sugar alone. The food itself has a complex aroma; sensory research identifies roasted, caramel, fatty and malty facets rather than a single peanut-butter molecule.
As a fragrance note, it describes a perfumer’s interpretation of that food. Demeter combines peanut butter with grape jelly, showing how the roasted impression can sit beside sweet fruit. Other surrounding notes can bring out a drier or softer aspect. There is no universal formula of maltol, lactones or pyrazines that defines the accord, and the name does not establish the use of peanut ingredients. Its richness and prominence depend on the complete composition.
