PINE NEEDLES

Pine needles focus a fragrance on the aromatic foliage of the tree. Their impression can be crisp and penetrating, with woody resin and a lemon-like brightness, rather than simply the dry smell of timber. A pine needle theme can also have a softer, sap-like side: LVNEA’s Ghost Pine places fresh needles in a forest setting of bark, moss and earth. That contrast helps explain why a needle note may feel airy in one perfume and richer in another.

Natural Scots pine needle oil comes from Pinus sylvestris foliage and can be produced by steam distillation. Suppliers describe evergreen woodiness as well as sharper turpentine-like facets. This is one material reference, not a formula for every pine needle accord. A note list alone cannot confirm the species or oil used, and does not assign the note a universal place in the fragrance’s development.
